Lake of Glass

I got the idea for this painting from a picture that my dad took. He had touched it up and sent it to me in black and white. The picture contained some of my favorite subjects, so I decided it would be my next project for an 8×10 canvas. After I had finished it, he showed me the original photo.

The original photo showed that the “reflection” was actually the sky showing through underneath the clouds, and there were houses below the trees. I realized that if he hadn’t touched it up, I wouldn’t have painted this. That’s how limited my imagination is.
